Electro Acupuncture

Electro Acupuncture is a relatively new technique in Chinese Medcine only being used since the early 1900s.

It is quite similar to traditional acupuncture as needles are still inserted into specific points along the body, however the needles are then attached to an electro-machine which creates a gentle stimulation of the acupuncture points and assists the body in healing.

During an electroacupuncture treatment we use two needles so that the stimulation moves from one needles to the other and often move then one set of needles are stimulated at a time.  Both the frequency and intensity can be changed to suit the condition being treated.

It can be used as part of most treatments, however it is commonly used in the treatment of neurological disorders, chronic pain and muscle spasms.

Do not use on patients with:

  • History of Seizures
  • Epilepsy
  • Heart Disease
  • Strokes
  • Pacemaker

The use of electroacupuncture should be discussed with your practitioner before proceeding with treatment..
